What are you getting out of the Ink n Bones Newsletter?  

My Group game recaps with DM commentary. As I look back on my past campaign there are things I think I would do very differently. Hope these self critiques will give you insight into how to better your own games.

My Solo actual plays. These are written and sometimes recorded sessions of game play in the world of Sorg. These I hope are entertaining and offer you tools about how to gamify your world building process.

**Storyletter** **LLC** is an independent publisher striving to bring you great short fiction from up-and-coming writers. **The Storyletter** is currently a growing **Substack** with over 3,000 views since its launch in July of 2021.

## The Mission

The ultimate goal of **The Storyletter** is to provide writers with a supportive platform to reach potential readers who desire a trusted source in new and entertaining independent short fiction.

## The Content

**Storyletter** **LLC** seeks to publish short stories, flash fiction, poetry, and novellas (in the form of serial fiction). Full-length novels may be considered in the future. Genres include science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, thriller, historical fiction, dystopian, utopian, new weird, magical realism, folktales, and other genre-bending tales. Non-fiction is currently not being considered. Stories will be posted periodically based on availability and not on a set schedule.

## Express Membership

Storyletter LLC promotes supporting the independent artists and creators of our time. While stories will remain free for our readers, that doesn’t mean that our writers won’t get paid. Storyletter LLC intends to pay writers for each story that is published on the Substack, therefore, becoming a paying member helps increase the payouts for your favorite indie writers. Also, becoming an Express member allows exclusive access to The Storyletter private Discord server for both readers and writers.

## There’s a better way to publish books

After I finished my first novel, I spent an inordinate amount of time researching how to publish it. What I found is that [traditional publishing isn't really working for authors](https://ellegriffin.substack.com/p/creator-economy-for-fiction-authors). Of the 2.6 million books published in 2020, only 268 sold more than 100,000 copies and the vast majority (96 percent) sold less than 1,000 copies.

But if most books have only 1,000 fans, then charging $10 every three years when a new book comes out isn't the right way to monetize them. A better way might be to charge those fans $10/month to subscribe to an author, earning readers behind-the-scenes access to their favorite writers, while earning authors a $100,000/year salary in the process.

That’s why I decided to run an experiment. In September of 2021, [I debuted my gothic novel as a serial](https://ellegriffin.substack.com/s/obscurity), releasing one chapter per week exclusively for paying newsletter subscribers. Then in December of 2021, I debuted another experiment: this time [I crowdfunded a novel using cryptocurrency](https://ellegriffin.substack.com/p/crypto-funded-nft-novel), writing a new chapter for every 0.25 ETH raised.

I’m still experimenting to see whether there is a world in which writers (and artists) can earn a living from their craft as part of the creator economy.
